Network cabling and optical fibre: every link certified.

The fastest Wi-Fi stops at the first badly pulled cable. BBRS designs, pulls, labels and certifies a building's copper cabling and optical fibre, with the electrical infrastructure that powers it, and measures every link before an access point goes up.

What is network cabling?

Network cabling, or structured cabling, is the set of physical links in a building, copper and optical fibre, that connect the outlets, patch panels, switches and Wi-Fi access points. It is designed to the standards, labelled, and certified by measuring every link. It is the foundation that sets the throughput of the whole network, wired and wireless alike.

Copper, to desks and access points
Cat6A twisted pairs between the technical room and every outlet or access point. The same cable carries data and PoE power for Wi-Fi access points, cameras and phones.
Fibre, between technical rooms
Multimode or single-mode for runs between floors, between buildings and to the network core, wherever distance or throughput exceed what copper allows.
Racks and patching
Patch panels, racks, cable trays and patch cords: the organisation that keeps the network readable, and changeable without undoing everything.
Labelling
Every link carries an identifier, recorded on the plan and in the certification report. An outlet is found without searching, years later.
Electricity
UPS units, distribution, earthing, redundancy: power for the network equipment is part of the package, not a separate job.

What are the different types of network cable?

Two families, chosen by distance, throughput and environment. The right answer is almost always both, each in its place.

Cat6A copper

Twisted pairs, up to 100 m per link and 10 Gbit/s. The category BBRS deploys to outlets and Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, with their PoE power.

Multimode fibre

For short, very-high-throughput runs: between floors, between racks in the same building. A few hundred metres at most.

Single-mode fibre

For long distances: between the buildings of a campus, to a remote site or to the carrier. Several kilometres without a repeater.

Certification

An installed cable is not a certified link.

Pulling a cable is one trade; proving it meets the standard is another. Every link is measured with the reference instruments, and the result is handed over, link by link.

01 Copper certification
Fluke DSX-8000: every Cat6A link tested to the standard (length, attenuation, crosstalk, delay), with a verdict and the matching report.
02 Fibre certification
CertiFiber Pro for end-to-end loss; a JDSU OTDR to locate on the fibre every splice, connector or bend that degrades the link.
03 Tracing and checking
Fluke IntelliTone Pro to identify live ports and trace cables; NOYES SMLP for optical power and attenuation.
04 Labelling and documentation
Identifiers on every outlet, cord and panel, recorded in the technical documentation handed over at acceptance.
05 What the Wi-Fi gets out of it
The report gives the available PoE budget and the uplink throughput per technical room: the two figures that cap what an access point can deliver. On a building that is already cabled, this is the wired part of the Wi-Fi audit and site survey.

An access point is never faster than the link that feeds it.
